Showbiz Drama: How Davido’s wedding sparked feud among Iyabo Ojo, VDM, others

The Nigerian entertainment industry has recently been embroiled in a heated social media feud involving four prominent figures: VeryDarkMan (VDM), PaulO, Seun Kuti, and Iyabo Ojo.
This conflict, centered on issues of morality, friendship, humility, and truth, ignited after Afrobeats star Davido married Chioma Rowland in Lagos, Nigeria.
How it all began
The controversy began when Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, accused several celebrities of living fake lives in an Instagram video. He specifically criticized Iyabo Ojo, Nkechi Blessing, and Obi Cubana, claiming they attended Davido’s wedding only for the after-party.
Obi Cubana responded by asking blogs to stop promoting disrespectful youth, while Iyabo Ojo shared pictures of herself with the newlyweds.
PaulO’s involvement
Paul Okoye, also known as PaulO, who manages top entertainers including Davido and Tiwa Savage, defended his partner Iyabo Ojo against VeryDarkMan.
Using his media handle, he criticized VeryDarkMan for questioning who received wedding invites and accused him of living a miserable life.
“Pray for this Guy! Person wey swear for this guy don die. [it’s] a pity he just have to live in this condition for the rest of his miserable Life! You come for a wedding to check which invite someone have? Is that not sickness?,” he wrote in part.
PaulO also demanded that celebrities choose between him and VeryDarkMan, involving others like Davido and Seun Kuti.
Seun Kuti’s response
Seun Kuti sided with VeryDarkMan, condemning PaulO for trying to publicly order him around instead of addressing issues privately.
“Even if billionaire PaulO is the one helping my life, he can never order me publicly, he should have called me privately on the phone, VeryDarkMan is a necessity, all elders must earn respect, most of our elders are very greedy and are cowards,” he said in a video.
Seun praised VeryDarkMan for his outspoken criticism of elders and accused Iyabo Ojo of politicizing the death of Mohbad to tarnish Naira Marley’s reputation.
Iyabo Ojo’s reaction
Iyabo Ojo responded by asserting that VeryDarkMan insulted and defamed her, accusing her of taking N65 million to seek justice for Mohbad.
“VDM must provide proof of me and my daughter ‘working out’ with a man. He must also provide evidence of the N65m he claimed I collected from Nigerians for Mohbad’s case. If VDM insults me, I’ll send him to his mother. When you had an issue with AY Makun, he didn’t mention your name in his skit but you got angry. I haven’t started my case with VDM yet,” she vented in a video.
She further demanded proof of these allegations and criticized VeryDarkMan for misleading the public while associating with the wealthy.
