The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has addressed the recent reports concerning the alleged arrest of Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), a controversial social media influencer.

According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Josephine Adeh, VDM was not arrested but rather invited for questioning.

This invitation followed a petition and allegations of cyber stalking, cyberbullying, and defamation of character.

“The FCT Police Command wishes to clarify that VDM was not arrested by the police but invited for questioning following a petition and allegations of cyber stalking, cyberbullying, and defamation of character,” SP Adeh stated.

Earlier, VDM’s legal counsel, Deji Adeyanju, had announced the arrest of the influencer on Sunday, June 30.

However, the police confirmed that VDM has since returned to his base in Lagos after voluntarily providing a statement regarding the allegations.

“He has since been released after voluntarily giving his statement on the allegations,” the FCT Police Command’s statement noted.

Over the past six months, VDM has frequently been involved in public disputes with various Nigerian celebrities and has previously been invited and arrested twice by the police.

Currently, he is embroiled in a social media conflict with actress and producer Iyabo Ojo and her partner, Paul Okoye, also known as PaulO.
