Defence Chief seeks greater partnerships with Works, Agric Ministries

In a bid to promote greater partnerships between the armed forces and the executive arm of government, the Chief of Defence Staff ( CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, on Tuesday, paid a courtesy visits to the ministers of Works and Housing and Agriculture and Food Security.

During his visit to works ministry, the CDS commended the Minister, Senator Dave Umahi for his efforts towards rehabilitating Nigeria deplorable high ways. According to the CDS, good roads are pivotal to Military operations, while calling for urgent attention to roads in areas of military operations.

In his response, the Minister of Works and Housing, Senator Dave Umahi condoled with the CDS on the recent unfortunate killing of Military Personnel in Delta State.

He thanked the Armed Forces of Nigeria for its approach in handling the situation. Sen Umahi also commended the military for the renewed vigour in the fight against insecurity in Nigeria. He further assured of his ministry readiness to partner the armed forces to rehabilitate roads that are critical to military operations.

Speaking at the Ministry of Agriculture and food security, General Musa showed appreciation to the minister for the ministry’s giant efforts in addressing food security in the country. He emphasised the armed forces’ desire to work with the ministry to bring to an end the contentious farmer/ herders conflicts.

The Defence Chief also informed the Minister of the readiness of the Defence Headquarters to establish Defence Farms to encourage members of the Armed Forces to embrace farming culture.
