NSCDC arrests ex-convict for killing kidnapped victim after collecting ransom

Men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State, have arrested an ex-convict, Boodo Alhaji for the death of a kidnapped victim.

Public Relations Officer of NSCDC in the state, Olasunkanmi Ayeni made this known while addressing newsmen in Ilorin on Monday.

Alhaji was arrested in Bani, Kaiama Local Government Area of the state, in connection with the kidnapping and death of an 80 years old man, simply identified as Baba, which took place in Eruwa, Oyo State.

According to him, after the kidnapping, a ransom was paid but the victim was killed.

Ayeni said efforts are on to arrest three other suspects still at large in connection with the crime. 

He added that the suspect would be transferred to Oyo State Police Command where the case was reported.

He appealed to Nigerians to support the security agencies with useful and timely information which he said would help to curb most of the menace troubling the country

The suspect told journalists that he was not part of those who kidnapped and killed the old man.

He disclosed that the victim had earlier reported him to somebody that if he is kidnapped, he (Alhaji) should be arrested for the crime.

He also denied collecting any ransom, adding that he was not aware Baba (victim) was dead.
