The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has emphasized the importance of collaboration among armed forces and paramilitary agencies to combat corruption in Nigeria.

ICPC Chairman, Mr. Musa Adamu Aliyu delivered this message during the opening ceremony of a three-day workshop titled “21st Century Policing: Capacity Building Techniques and Brand Management for Security Image Makers” held in Abuja on Wednesday.

Addressing participants through the Secretary to the Commission, Mr. Clifford Okwudiri Okparaodu, Dr. Aliyu expressed ICPC’s readiness to cooperate with other security sector agencies to tackle corruption effectively.

He highlighted the collective responsibility of stakeholders in the fight against corruption and urged public relations professionals within these organizations to prioritize transparency and integrity, rather than concealing acts of corruption to safeguard organizational image.

Earlier, Prof. Olawale Babawale, the Provost of the Anti Corruption Academy of Nigeria, disclosed the academy’s significant contributions since its establishment in 2014, having trained over 24,000 participants across the ECOWAS sub-region and the African Union.

He emphasized the crucial role of public relations practitioners as integral partners in combating corruption, particularly within military, paramilitary, and law enforcement agencies.

Prof. Babawale outlined the workshop’s objectives aimed at equipping participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to actively contribute to the anti-corruption campaign while effectively fulfilling their duties.

Attendees included representatives from various agencies such as the Nigeria Customs Service, Nigerian Army, Federal Road Safety Corps, and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
