Police officers from the Ikotun Division on patrol have intercepted a group of car snatchers, while conducting a routine patrol near the Abaranje district of the area.

Spokesman for the Lagos Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known via a statement on his X handle on Wednesday, disclosing the incident happened in the early hours of the same day.

According to reports, the officers while on patrol, were drawn to an unregistered Toyota Yaris car with three occupants, who were said to have immediately fled the scene upon spotting the Policemen, leaving the vehicle behind.

Prompted by their actions and following a thorough search of the area, the police managed to apprehend one of the suspects, identified as Stanley Eshett, aged 29.

The suspect upon interrogation revealed that the car had been forcefully taken from its owner 40 minutes prior to the interception.

The Police further contacted the said owner, who identified Eshett as one of the perpetrators involved in the carjacking incident.

Hundeyin added that investigations were ongoing, as the law enforcement officials continue to gather evidence of events leading up to the interception with the aim of bringing the perpetrators to justice.
