In its efforts to combat quackery and illegal health facilities, the Oyo state government has sealed three health facilities in Saki and six others in Ibadan metropolis.

These measures were enforced during a monitoring exercise conducted by the State’s Commissioner for Health, Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, alongside a task force.

Among the facilities sealed were Ayinke Clinic and Maternity, Omowumi Hospital, and Olajumoke Clinic Maternity in Saki, as well as six others in Ibadan.

Ajetunmobi highlighted various offenses committed by numerous health facilities, including the recruitment of unqualified medical personnel and non-registration.

The establishment of the State Anti-quackery task force by Governor Seyi Makinde, led by Commissioner Ajetunmobi, aims to tackle fraudulent practices within the health sector. The task force, comprising qualified medical personnel, is actively monitoring health facilities across the state to distinguish between professionals and quacks.

Chairman of the State Anti-quackery Task Force Committee, Adekunle Aremu, in his remarks, emphasized the state government’s commitment to monitoring health facilities to weed out quackery. He encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities in health facilities to the State Ministry of Health or security agencies for prompt action.

The monitoring exercise, initiated in Ibadan, is set to expand to other zones, sending a clear message that offenders will face legal consequences.
