In a daring act of recklessness, a driver has been apprehended by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) for squeezing 15 children into a Volkswagen Passat car in Lagos.

The development was disclosed in a statement signed on Friday by the Spokesman for Lagos Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin.

According to reports, the alarming situation unfolded on the Lekki–Ikoyi Link Bridge around 8pm on Sunday, following reports from vigilant citizens.

Upon swift intervention, law enforcement officials were shocked to discover that not only were 11 children crammed together inside the vehicle, but four more were locked inside the car trunk.

Investigation revealed that the driver had been hired to transport the children to a beach, subjecting them to hazardous conditions.

Disturbingly, preliminary findings uncovered that one child had collapsed earlier in the day due to similar overcrowded transportation, though fortunately recovered after medical attention.

Thankfully, all the children involved in this incident were safely returned to their parents without any injuries.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, in his reaction, commended the proactive efforts of Lagos residents in promptly reporting suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.

The suspects implicated in this shocking case are set to face legal proceedings in court, as authorities continue to emphasize the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of children in the state.
