A suspected criminal operation has been thwarted in the early hours of Thursday, by an anti-crime patrol team from the Maroko Police Division in Lagos State.

Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed this development on Thursday through a social media post on his X handle.

According to reports, the officers sprang into action after spotting a suspicious minibus executing a swift U-turn upon encountering the law enforcement presence on Hakeem Dickson Street.

The officers initiated pursuit, prompting six individuals to hastily disembark from the vehicle and scatter in various directions. Undeterred, the officers swiftly apprehended the lone occupant left behind in the minibus, identified as Azeez Babatunde.

A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a cache of illicit items, including two locally-manufactured pistols, two unused cartridges, and a knife.

According to Hundeyin, investigations into the incident are currently underway.
